TSUNAMI

As Abbott points out in 1996, tsunami is a Japanese word meaning "big port wave." When the low-lying waves at sea reach the harbor, they rise above the narrow shape of the harbor. This is what the Japanese call a tsunami.

*Rojas and Fissey describe the tsunami as a tidal wave.
*According to Telford, a tsunami is a species that is rarely seen in the low seas.

Factors influencing the occurrence of a tsunami.
1.Earthquakes on the ocean floor
2.Landslides (eg 1958 tsunami waves caused by 3.landslides in the Lithia Mountains of Alaska)
4.Volcanic eruption
5.Meteor showers

Often there are no early warning signs of a tsunami. But tsunamis are usually caused by a water-related earthquake. A tsunami can occur if shallow water, high intensity, depth of water and sufficient water mass are complete. A magnitude 4.2 earthquake can cause a tsunami.

The December 26, 2004 earthquake was triggered by a Burmese landslide over the Indus. During this slip, the ground rises about 30 meters. The valley portion of a tsunami wave formed by the vertical movement of the plate is spearheaded. When this valley reaches the shoreline, the water level drops. The seabed is then exposed to a large extent. As the valley part of the wave approaches, the water column recedes, but in a few moments the peak of the next wave arrives. The tsunami wave then rises with a large body of water and travels very fast towards the coast. This activism is what causes a tsunami.

The tsunami killed and displaced a large number of people in many Asian countries.
Impact of the tsunami on December 26, 2004.
The tsunami had a severe impact on the economies of Asian countries. The tsunami devastated many small-scale fishing, tourism and coastal industries. Considering the impact of the tsunami on the fishing industry, fishing, fishing gear, fishing vessels and fishermen's homes were destroyed in all 11 countries affected by the tsunami.

The country's authorities must take action to deal with such a catastrophe. Tsunami warnings and public awareness have the potential to reduce damage.
